Dubai Desert Classic Round 1 Wrap

Tiger Woods took up at the Dubai Desert Classic on Thursday where he left off at the Buick Invitational in California on Sunday with a commanding display of golf to top the leaderboard.

The world No.1 was out early in the first round of the 2.5million dollars European PGA Tour event and he did not disappoint the large gallery following him by birdieing his first hole.

It could have been even better had his greenside chip for an eagle on the par-5 10th not stopped an inch from the cup.

He added six more birdies for an ominous opening seven-under 65 over the Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club and that was good enough for an early two-stroke clubhouse lead.

The 32-year-old Woods came into Dubai hot on the heels of a commanding eight-stroke win at his season-opener, the Buick Invitational, at Torrey Pines, California on Sunday.

That was his fourth consecutive tournament win stretching back to the tail end of last year and it came wrapped around an uncustomary 10-week winter break for the American.
